Tennis & Playgrounds

With the added attraction of Vermont's magnificent beauty and the backdrop of the Green Mountains all around, there is no doubt why the Crossroads Region is a popular area for tennis enthusiasts. Vacationers can play tennis surrounded by incredible scenery, at quality, state-of-the-art facilities, with dedicated, professional instructors and staff.

For those with a more casual tennis playing agenda, many private tennis facilities as well as public courts are available throughout the region. Players will still enjoy the ambiance, stimulating fresh air, and serenity of playing in the quiet Vermont countryside, undistracted by the sites and sounds of the city.

Public Tennis and Recreational Facilities:
- Brandon - Estabrook Field off Rte. 7N, two outdoor courts, free and open to the public. A softball field is located at Estabrook. A public playground is located across from the old school on Seminary St.

- Bridgewater - Town tennis courts at Recreation Field, Rte. 4, is free and open to the public. A public playground is located at the Recreation Field.

- Castleton - Dewey Field, North Rd., outdoor town courts, open to the public, no charge. Two ball fields and a public playground are located at the elementary school in town.

- Fair Haven - Cottage St., Fair Haven. Outdoor town courts, open to the public, no charge. A public playground is at the same location, behind the grade school.

- Pittsfield - A public playground, basketball court, and baseball field is located behind the town office building, off the village green, off Rte. 100.

- Pittsford - Pittsford recreation area, Furnace Brook Rd. (at entrance to police academy), (802) 483-2931. Two outdoor tennis courts, playground, recreation field, open to the public, fee for residents and non-residents.

- Plymouth - Tennis courts at Echo Lake Inn, Rte. 100, Tyson, (802) 228-8602, fee.

- Poultney - Town tennis courts and a public playground are available at the elementary school of York St., is open and free to the public.

- Proctor - Proctor High School, Park St., outdoor town courts, open to the public, no charge. A recreation field is located off Elm St. and a public playground is at the elementary school in town.

- Rutland - Monsignor Connor Park, Meadow St., (802) 773-1822, free public outdoor tennis courts. Rotary Field, North St. (802) 773-1822, free public outdoor courts. White's Pool Area, Ave. C, (802) 773-1822, free public outdoor courts.

Public playgrounds are located at the city parks:
- Rutland Town - Northwood Park off Post Rd. Two outdoor courts, playgrounds, and recreation fields open and free to the public. Dewey Field. Outdoor courts, recreation field and playground open and free to the public.

- Sherburne - River Rd., three public courts, picnic area, shuffleboard, horseshoes, and a ball field open to the public at no charge.

- Wallingford - Town courts, Rte. 140. Two outdoor courts, open and free to the public. A public playground is located behind the tennis courts with swings and a slide.

- West Rutland - Off Ross St., Courts open and free to the public. A public playground is located behind the school on Main St.

- Woodstock - Town public courts, Vail Field, Rte. 106S, (802) 468-1502. Four all-weather, outdoor courts and a public playground are open and free to the public. A public playground is also located at the Woodstock Elementary School, with recreation field for baseball.
