Killington Music Festival celebrates 34 years

Saturday, June 25 at 7 p.m. — KILLINGTON — Now in its 34th season of presenting fine chamber music, the Killington Music Festival will open its 2016 concert schedule on Saturday, June 25 with a concert titled “Season’s Opening on KMF’s Grand,” featuring Simon Ghraichy, who has been dubbed “the classical piano-rock star” by Quien Mag, and KMF’s own artistic director Daniel Andai. The duo will perform masterworks by Kreisler, Ponce and Saint-Saens.

From June 25 through July 30 the internationally acclaimed musicians of the Killington Music Festival will perform at Rams Head Lodge at the Killington Resort on Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. During the “Music in the Mountains” Classical Concert Series the professional musicians will also teach, guide and mentor aspiring young musicians from around the country and abroad.

Tickets are $25, $30 for the season finale, and are available through the box office at 802-422-1330. Tickets may be purchased the day of the performance beginning at 6 p.m. at Ramshead Lodge or ordered by phone through the day prior to the performance.

The Killington Music Festival is not only about concerts on Saturday evenings; the Festival also runs a significant five-week residency program in music education. The students give a wide variety of performances at the Rams Head Lodge and free noontime concerts at the Rutland Free Library on Wednesdays, July 20 and July 27. The Friday night performances of the Young Artists Series at Rams Head Lodge are at 7 p.m. and admission is free.
