KMS announces new Mountain Adventure Camps program

KILLINGTON—Killington Mountain School, in partnership with Killington Resort, recently announced a new series offered this summer: the Killington Mountain Adventure Camps Series (KMACS), which will run through July 2015, for kids 8 to14 years old.

Spartan Race coach Mark Jones and his staff of expert coaches have come on board to offer three one-week sessions of camp. Jones is a certified personal trainer, has extensive coaching experience, and has won countless running races, adventure races, and triathlons. He will bring his athletic background and expertise to the planning and organization of this summer’s adventure camp series.

KMACS offers a variety of activities that promote strength, conditioning, and adventure, all while having fun with friends. Participants will have the opportunity to use Killington’s facilities, including brand-new offerings like the high ropes course, the Soaring Eagle zipline, and the Amazen Maze, as well as the resort’s state-of-the-art mountain biking terrain. This season, the resort is expanding its beginner/intermediate-friendly mountain biking trails, appropriate for the KMACS campers. Participants will also be able to use the resort’s disc golf set-up, many miles of hiking trails, and rivers and ponds where campers can kayak and paddle-board.

The first half of each day will take place on the KMS campus, using the school’s state-of-the-art gym, trampoline facility, and the great outdoors, all under the watchful eye and guidance of Coach Jones. After lunch each day, the campers will head out on an exciting adventure-themed excursion. Each week-long session will end with a mini-adventure race event, where parents will be invited to come watch and cheer on their child.

Sessions will run July 6-10, July 13-17, and July 20-24. Drop off is 9 a.m. and pick up is 4 p.m. Session cost is $499 per week. Camps are open to all kids–no participation in KMS or KSC winter sports necessary.
