Training pays off for KMS students

KILLINGTON-The Killington Mountain School (KMS) Snowboard Team
is owning the USASA Southern Vermont Series at Bromley this season.
KMS eighth-grader Nikki Sardelli, of Killington, remains undefeated
with six starts and six gold medals in the Southern Vermont Series,
finishing with top honors again both Saturday and Sunday in a pair
of boardercross races for the Breaker Girls (12-13). KMS sophomore
Logan Farmer, of Randolph, also took first both days in Youth Boys
(14-15) and was third overall in the men's standings regardless of
age group both days.
In all, the KMS Snowboard Team had a total of 20 podiums this
weekend in snowboarding and skicross.
"We've been training hard on our start technique and it really paid
off this weekend, said KMS Snowboard Program Director KC Gandee.
"Logan and Nikki were first out of the gate in nearly all of their
heats. On the Bromley course, the hole shot winner usually won the
race and KMS owned the hole shot this weekend."
Logan's brother, Ethan, 10, scored a fourth-place finish for
Menehune Boys (10-11) and Tin Skoric landed in fourth for Grommet
(8-9).
KMS skicross racer Mazie Hayden, 11, of Pittsfield, took gold for
skier girls ages 10-12 and was the second skier woman overall
regardless of age.
KMS and Killington Ski Club (KSC)/KMS athletes showed up in force
at the Gatorade Freeflow Tour stops at Okemo on Saturday and
Killington on Sunday. KMS BOOST athlete Sophie Anderson took second
and KSC/KMS rider Maggie Leon placed third in Open Women's
Slopestyle at Okemo on Saturday. On Sunday at Killington, KSC/KMS
athletes swept the junior podiums as well as the women's open
podium, while the KMS and KSC/KMS freeskiers added a few podiums of
their own:
