It was a great opening weekend at Green Mountain National. Many
old friends and new face came to enjoy the course, which is already
in mid-season condition and thanks to the hard work of Peter
Bissell and the GMNGC grounds crew things will only keep getting
better.
Green Mountain National is very sad to announce that our Clubhouse
Manager Roger Stevens will not be returning this upcoming season.
Stevens has decided to retire and spend the summer riding his bike
all over Vermont and travelling to Europe with his family.
Stevens's smile, hard work and dedication to GMNGC will be missed.
Stevens and his family will continue to operate both the Pitt-Stop
Convenience Store and the Swiss Farm Inn in Pittsfield.
Our Saturday Morning Golf Clinics with Alan will begin as soon as
the weather allows and each week he'll cover a different topic to
help sharpen your game. Saturday clinics are held at the driving
range starting at 10:30 a.m. and all ability levels are
welcome to attend. The cost is $20 per player and clubs are
available for beginners if needed.
Thursday Night Twilight League starts up on May 17. This is GMNGC's
most popular weekly event. As always, everyone is welcome to play
and beginners are encouraged to join in on the fun. Every Thursday
evening the league plays a 5-person, "blind-draw"
scramble, followed by dinner in the clubhouse with
fantastic prizes donated by local businesses. The cost is $25 for
non-members / $15 for members and that includes everything
you'll need. Sign-up by calling Thursdays mornings and then meet at
the clubhouse at 4:30 p.m.
The Killington / Pico Rotary will be holding the first major
tournament of the season on Wednesday, May 30. All proceeds from
this event benefit the Rutland Area Visiting Nurses and Hospice.
Space is still available and you can sign-up your team by
contacting Ken Lee at 802-342-3575.
As GMNGC heads into the season, they will keep you informed about
events and activities here in the Mountain Times and on their
new Facebook Fan Page. Their website calendar will also have all
major tournaments and events, see www.gmngc.com or, for additional
information, call 802-422-4653.
