Rutland County's Jennifer Little is among 39 Vermont
teachers who have raised money through the generosity of individual
and corporate donors connected by DonorsChoose.org
Jennifer Little, a teacher at Mill River Union High School in
Clarendon, received funding for four classroom
projects that help students improve their reading and writing
skills. "A good education is expensive and funds are limited
for many people," Little said. "DonorsChoose provides a great
opportunity to give a little to help teachers... and to provide
students with the tools needed to be successful in school and in
life."
DonorsChoose.org is a nonprofit organization that connects
donors with public school teachers who need classroom
materials. Rutland Horace Mann agent Steven
Morneau helped to fund Little's four projects, and Horace
Mann Vermont has contributed to a total of 24 projects. Nationally,
Horace Mann has contributed $1.3 million to school projects
through DonorsChoose.org since February 2011.
On Thursday June 21, at 1 p.m., Little will demonstrate her
classroom projects and discuss how other public school teachers can
find funding at at Mill River Union High School, 2321 Middle
Road, Clarendon.
