On August 22 at approximately 12:30 a.m., a member of the Vermont State Police, Brattleboro Station, responded to Interstate 91 (I-91) for a report of a car vs. deer crash in the Town of Putney. The operator, Ms. Wendy Currie, age 59 of Chester, reported that she was traveling northbound when she noticed a deer standing in the travel lane.  Ms. Currie was unable to avoid the deer and struck it with the vehicle's driver's side front end. Ms. Currie's vehicle, a black 2007 Mazda MZ3, sustained damage in excess of $3,000 to the front end. No injuries were sustained in this crash and Ms. Currie drove her vehicle from the scene.
