Rutland woman arrested after narrow miss on Route 4

On August 16, members of the State Police Traffic Operations Section were conducting traffic enforcement on Rt-4 in Rutland County. Sgt. Michael Roj was monitor traffic on Route 4 in Killington Village at 8 a.m. when he observed an eastbound vehicle attempting to pass on the left a vehicle directly ahead of it in a no passing zone.

The suspect vehicle entered the westbound lane and while completing the pass, narrowly missed colliding with a westbound vehicle. The suspect vehicle was clocked at 65 mph in a posted 40 mph zone. The suspect vehicle was stopped and identified as a 2001 Jeep. The operator was identified as Kristin A. Celentano, age 36 from Rutland Vt.

Operator Celentano was arrested and transported to the Rutland State Police barracks for processing.  She was released on a citation to appear in Rutland Court on Sept. 24 for the offense of Careless and Negligent Operation.

The Vermont state police continue to support the Summer HEAT initiative, which is designed to take enforcement action against motorists who speed and drive aggressively.

This programs goal is to reduce the high number of vehicle collisions and deaths, which are occurring on Vermont highways.
