PITTSFORD - On Aug. 4, at approximately 2:50 p.m., members of the Vermont State Police, Pittsford Fire Department, Regional Ambulance Service and Pittsford First Response responded to a report of a single car accident with  injuries on Vt Route 3 in the Town of Pittsford, Vt. When State Police arrived on scene both occupants were out of the vehicle. The operator was found lying on the ground receiving medical attention and the passenger was found standing on the side of the roadway.

An initial investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling southbound on Vermont Route 3 when it crossed the center line of the roadway travelled in the oncoming lane for several hundred feet. The vehicle then went off the roadway for another approximate 100 feet striking a telephone pole with the front driver side door.

The operator, later identified as Kobe Pinkham age 18 from Brandon, was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Rutland Regional with internal injuries and fractures.  The passenger, identified as John Thornton age 17 from Brandon, was wearing a lap and shoulder belt and was treated at the scene for minor injuries that included scrapes and bruises.

The vehicle, a silver 1996 Honda Civic, was a total loss. This crash remains under investigation and it is believed speed was a factor in the crash.

The telephone pole was severed resulting in a power loss to the surrounding area; crews from Green Mountain Power worked quickly to restore services.
