Rutland woman dies of complications after accident

PROCTOR - On Aug. 8, at approx. 8:44 a.m., the Vermont State Police were dispatched to the area of Newton Street, north of Garden Street, in the town of Proctor for a single vehicle motor vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, Troopers located a 2007 Toyota Rav 4 that had crashed into a tree. The operator was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was identified as Charlotte Keenan, age 87, of Rutland, Vt.
Proctor Fire & Rescue and Regional Ambulance were on scene attending to Keenan. When the police arrived Keenan was alert and conscious. Due to extensive injuries, she was transported to the Rutland Regional Medical Center and then air lifted to the Dartmouth Hospital in Hanover, NH. Keenan had been wearing her seatbelt but suffered extensive chest trauma and rib injuries.
She reportedly died the morning of Aug. 10 as a result of complications from the injuries she sustained.
The vehicle was deemed totaled.
