57,000 pounds of milk spilled after milk tanker rollover
SHOREHAM - On Jan. 3 at approx. 7:57 a.m. State Police
investigation reveled that Thomas Miller, age 57 from Vergennes,
backed up and hooked up to a milk tanker. Miller pulled away and
drove out of the parking lot of the Shoreham Service Center,
turning left onto VT Route 22A.
As Miller continued south on Route 22A, the milk tanker separated
from the truck. The tanker traveled off the west side of the road
and rolled over several times spilling it's cargo of 57,000 pounds
of milk. It was -8 degrees below zero with high winds, snow and ice
covering the road.
No injuries resulted from this incident. The 2011 International
truck received no damage during the incident but the 1997 Milk
Tanker was destroyed after it rolled over.
