The Yeti is a magical creature of strength and swiftness who
supposedly dwells in the Himalayan mountain region of Tibet and
Nepal, a great place for a beast to hide out in an isolated cliff
cave away from us crafty humans. So many stories have been told
through the centuries about the Abominable Snowman, Bigfoot,
Sasquatch, Yeti Monster, Tibetan Wildman, Lhotse Terror, and the
Cool Gorilla. Why hasn't anyone ever been able to capture one on
film, until now?
The large white furry Yeti appeared at a Saturday evening private
snowshoe party in the woods. He was lurking about in the dark,
leaving huge footprints in the snow, until one leg stepped into a
mud hole, and he decided that was enough of the scare tactics, he
needed some food and drink inside the yurt.
Earlier that same day, the Yeti was reported to have made a visit
to Aspen East Ski Shop and Surf the Earth Snowboards. Onlookers say
that at precisely 3:11 p.m., the Yeti saw his shadow promising that
he will use all his powers to deliver twelve more weeks of real
winter to this area-and proclaiming himself the true "weather
prophet extrodinar."
The Yeti managed to growl out these few words, sure to be
remembered in weather folklore for many years to come: "A summerish
January brings a winterish spring."
With that he wandered up towards the Access Road.
Now we have a new local legend, out staging Punxsutawney Phil: When
the Yeti appears and sees his shadow at the temperature sign,
Killington and Pico will get twelve more weeks of winter.
Let's just hope his prognosticating skills are more accurate than
the groundhog. Who knows?
