The Phat Italian Block Party: Bring your appetite, your friends and your game

This free event includes Italian food, contests, games and great music including local bands, a famous DJ and "Rat Pack" tunes

Killington's Phat Italian Block Party is a two-day event that will take place on Sept. 15 and 16 in the upper parking lot and throughout the Phat Italian/On the Rocs property. This event is free to the public and will have great live music, games, face-painting, balloons, a water slide and bouncy house for the kids, as well as tons of giveaways.

But what would an old school "Italian block party" be without food! Oh yes, there will be food, lots of it traditional Italian standards like sausage and peppers, homemade meatballs and of course fresh zeppoles. Zeppoles are the one thing that thousands of people show up to the world famous "San Gennero Feast" in New York City for. Zeppoles are Italian sweet dough fried and topped off with powdered sugar. Bellisima!

The two day event will feature some great live music. On Saturday the East Coast's Premier Party Disk Jockey "DJ Prime" will hit the stage. Prime is well-known for his nationally syndicated radio show on WKTU in NYC. Prime is also renowned for his "Jersey Shore" affiliation having performed during the taping of the popular MTV series. Prime is a master mixer and mash up DJ. His stage presence and on the fly mixing skills are a show in itself.

The Saturday lineup will also feature in a very rare summer appearance, Vermont's own "Joey Leone's Chop Shop Big Band," featuring the Chop Shop horns. This band has been a staple in Killington for the past nine years, featuring the funky sounds of James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Sam and Dave, Rick James, as well as the Rolling Stones, Paul Simon, and some horn themed classic rock. Dancing is strongly encouraged.

On Sunday another local standout DJ Derek Esposito will be manning the turntables. Derek is known for his outstanding mix of classic and current hip-hop, as well as a whole bunch of your favorite songs. Derek knows his craft and will be rocking the stage until Sunday's featured band hits the stage.

How can you have an "Italian block party" without some great "Rat Pack" tunes from Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Dean Martin? You can't.

Enter NYC's own Doug Acosta Band. Doug plays all the major New York caberets, as well as casinos throughout the Easy Coast. Doug is the real deal, his voice is smooth and authentic and will be the perfect soundtrack to the Block Party.

The Phat Italian Block Party will also have some awesome events going on like the "Phat Italian Eating Contest" which will take place on Sunday. You must sign up early to win the $200 cash grand prize, $100 second prize, and $50 runner up prize. Mangia!
The Block Party's visionary is the owner of the Phat Italian and On the Rocs, Ronnie Amadeo. Ron has wanted to bring the magic of the San Gennero Feast to Killington for years, and now has created an event that will bring some authentic big city vibes to our town. The On the Rocs bar will be open featuring some Italian themed drinks courtesy of Solerno liqueur, as well as standard bar drinks. There will be a beer garden outside near the stage, and the Phat Italian Deli will be open as well for all of your favorite "Phat" classic sandwiches.

There is no admission to this event; it's free! Just bring your appetite, and be ready to have some great family-oriented fun.
