The Downtown Rutland Partnership (DRP) will sponsor activities
on Sunday, Nov. 25 to kick-off the holiday season.
Having already begun to adorn downtown Rutland with holiday
decorations, DRP will officially kick-off the holiday festivities
on Thanksgiving weekend. Starting with a reminder that Small
Business Saturday is Nov. 24, DRP asks everyone to take part in
this national effort to support locally owned businesses. DRP
urges residents to kick-off their holiday shopping with a visit to
the many shops and services in downtown Rutland.
Sunday, Nov. 25 then starts the first of many holiday events.
DRP will sponsor visits with Santa at the Paramount Brick Box from
3-4:45 p.m. The Paramount Theatre will also be showing children's
holiday matinees at 3:30 and 4 p.m., along with other children's
The festivities will conclude with the annual tree lighting
ceremony in Depot Park at 5 p.m. This year, the ceremony itself
will have a new focus. Rather than one large tree, local businesses
are sponsoring a "grove of trees." Each tree will be decorated in
the style of that business's choosing. DRP expects most of the
decorating to take place on Sunday, Nov. 25 during the afternoon.
Hopeful that the decorating activity will create an event in its
own right, DRP welcomes residents to come to Depot Park during the
