A Woman's Quest: An Expressive Writing Circle is also lead by
Joanna Tebbs Young.
Students will work with expressive writing techniques and prompts
based on Young's "Voice Quest" curriculum to access intuition,
(re)discover dreams, build self-confidence and self-acceptance, and
acknowledge your authentic self within a circle of supportive women
or, again, just get writing, whatever your genre!
This on-going weekly group begins on Oct. 3 and runs continuously
on Thursday mornings, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
Workshops held at The Writers' Room are based on what some in the
field call expressive writing, therapeutic writing, free writing,
or journaling. Ignoring grammar and spelling, it is a kind of
"deep" writing that allows the writer to explore their feelings and
innate creativity. "If you can trust the pen and yourself and just
write (or even just doodle!), you can gain self-confidence as you
become more aware and trusting of your natural abilities, opinions,
and intuition," said Young, who is a certified instructor through
The Center for Journal. Her workshops look at subjects such as
writing for creativity/inspiration, business/personal success,
organization, overcoming stress and fear, understanding dreams,
reclaiming voice, and writing as a spiritual journey.
