Sunday, Nov. 20 at 9 a.m. - Killington Resort is kicking off the
season with a rail jam, Thanksgiving style. Upper Downdraft is
where the skiers and riders will show off their park skills vying
for the grand prize: a Frozen turkey plus entry into the Rails 2
Riches Jam, Dec. 10. Those who finish second and third place will
go home with the fixings: stuffing and cranberry sauce. Winning
your Thanksgiving meal or augmenting it with delicious sides is a
truly unique offering!
Online registration for skiers and riders opened on November 3 at 8
p.m. with limited spots. The entry fee is $25. Competitors are
required to have a season pass/lift ticket in order to compete;
this is not included with registration. However, $35 discounted
lift tickets will be available for competitors to purchase at
check-in. Registration and the Express Assumption of Risk form are
available online.
Each competitor will have two runs through the rail park. Each run
will be scored, but only the best run counts. After skiers and
riders complete their first run, they must hike back up to take the
second. Competitors will drop in by bib order. If a competitor is
not present at the time of his/her drop, they forfeit the run. The
top ten men and three women in each discipline will advance to the
finals.
The finals will be run as an open format rail jam on the bottom two
features. Competitors receiving the top three scores in each
category will receive prizes. Other competitors will also receive
prizes based on the judge's choice.
