- Downtown Rutland's Summer Sidewalk and Food Festival is back

Friday and Saturday, August 3-4, thousands of residents and
visitors to Downtown Rutland will enjoy two days of shopping,
dining and entertainment at the annual Downtown Rutland's Summer
Sidewalk and Food Festival. Center Street, portions of Evelyn
Street, and Merchants Row will be closed to vehicular traffic.
Over 100 vendors will offer a tantalizing array of products and
services. Children's activities and demonstrations will be
on-going. And many talented dance, theater and music performances
will showcase a variety of talents.
There is no admission fee for this two-day event. The festival
opens Friday at 9 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. On Saturday, it will
be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"This is a great opportunity to explore what the region has to
offer," said Michael Coppinger, executive director of the Downtown
Rutland Partnership.

HIGHLIGHTS
Friday night features dance by Cobra Dance Studio at 5:15 p.m.,
music with The Stafford Tech All-Stars at 6 p.m., and music from
The Bobby Dick Show at 8 p.m. Saturday there will be live music
from a variety of performers from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jeh
Kulu Dance & Drum Theater will perform at 1 p.m. The Rutland
Historical Society will play some of the classics in their space on
Merchants Row. At 12-noon and 2 p.m. see Song of the Pond, a
children's musical by the Twelve Tribes. The Twelve Tribes will
also be demonstrating Israeli and Irish dancing. The Paramount
Theatre will give behind the scenes tours at 12:15 p.m. 2 p.m. and
3:30 p.m.
