On Monday morning, Killington Peak received it's first blanket
of snow for the winter season. The first sight of snow in
Killington is always an exciting moment for winter sports athletes
here in Vermont as well as our loyal visitors out of state. The low
temperatures have also allowed Killington Resort to test their
snowmaking systems in preparation for the 2012-2013 ski season,
which skiers and riders hope will be a great one- especially,
compared to the meager portion of snow Mother Nature dished out
last year.
"Last year was one of the most challenging winter seasons on
record, but we were able to open on October 29 for daily operations
and provide some of the best skiing and riding in the region,"
wrote Mike Solimano, Oct. 4, on the Killington Insider Blog.
Solimano is committed to opening the resort this year as soon as
possible, without being foolish.

"Our approach moving forward will focus on bringing back the
best of Killington and truly live up to our name, 'The Beast'… We
need to regain that swagger," he says.
