Killington Parks and Recreation announces line up for free River Road Concert Series

Series kicks off July 12 with Mellow Yellow

KILLINGTON - The Killington Parks and Recreation Department has announced the lineup for the popular River Road Concert Series this week. Held Thursday evenings in July and August, performances are outdoors at 6 p.m. from July 12 - August 16 at the Sherburne Memorial Library, allowing guests to enjoy the natural amphitheater of the mountains.

"The Concert Series is the perfect accompaniment to the town's variety of summer programming," says Lyndsay Gang, Recreation Director. "It's perfectly designed so that children can spend their day at one of our summer camps, join their families for a splash in the pool, and end the evening with a free, all-ages outdoor show."

The Series kicks off on July 11 with 1960s tribute band, Mellow Yellow.

"Mellow Yellow captures all the hey-man-peace-and-love-grooviness of the songs that helped define a decade," Gang says. "With fantastic attention to detail, the members of Mellow Yellow do all they can to get inside the songs they perform. This attention to the essence of the music - as well as dazzling arrangements, outrageous costumes and groovy video visuals - creates not just a show, but a full-on, far-out experience of an era gone by. So c'mon down for a trip back in time! Those days may be over, but thanks to Mellow Yellow, the music - and the spirit - live on."

The musical acts for the Series continue with performances by singer/songwriter Dan Walker Trio on July 18; the popular Vermont rock band, Chad Hollister Band on July 25; multi-instrumentalists of world music, African Rhythms on August 1; acoustic celtic/folk artist, Jim Prendergast on August 8; and jazz and pop vocalist, Celia Slattery to complete the Series on August 15.

Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks to relax in the cool summer nights, while enjoying a variety of free musical entertainment.
