Killington Hay Festival kicks off

Giant hay sculptures on display through Columbus Day weekend
KILLINGTON - Visitors to Killington this fall are in for a surprise - amid the mountain vistas and fall foliage, they may find themselves face-to-face with a 25-foot bear or 30-foot moose! Good thing the creatures are made of hay!
A Vermont Chamber of Commerce Top Ten Fall Event, the Killington Hay Festival is a celebration of the Vermont harvest. It features 25+ giant sculptures crafted out of hay, plus a robust schedule of special events including the Motorcycle Rally, Restaurant Week, Killington Resort's Brewfest Weekend and the Spartan Beast Race.
"The Hay Festival has become an annual fall tradition in New England, appealing to families from across the state and country," says Amy Morrison, Town of Killington Events & Marketing Coordinator. Guests to the area will love the family-friendly scavenger hunt and photo opportunities surrounding the giant animal sculptures, and folk art fans will enjoy seeing the creative - and sometimes unbelievable - creatures made from homegrown Vermont hay.
Highlights of the 2013 Killington Hay Festival include:
A scavenger hunt through the winding roads and across the mountains of Killington to find 25+ giant hay sculptures including a turtle, gorilla and a Killington snow monster
Killington Restaurant Week with $42.41 (for 2 people) fixed-price dinner menus at more than 10 participating restaurants throughout town
The Killington Classic Motorcycle Touring Rally with five days of touring and social events, an outdoor concert, BBQ & vendor village
The Killington Spartan Beast Race - an obstacle course race across the terrain of Killington Mountain spanning the weekend of Sept. 21-22
