WEST PAWLET - On Tuesday, Jan. 10, Mettawee Community School held
the school-level round of the 2012 National Geographic Geography
Bee.
Earlier this Winter, all Mettawee 4th through 6th graders
participated in classroom-level Geo Bee rounds. Nine finalists
qualified for the final rounds: 4th grader Lang Quail, 5th graders
Nick Andrus, Sydney Badger, Trinity Delano and Ethan Moore, and 6th
graders Aaron Dorr, Tessa Georgeson, Dylan Saddlemire and Catherine
Thrasher.
The nine finalists answered a variety of challenging questions
about Geography. The 3rd place finisher was Trinity Delano and the
2nd place finisher was Catherine Thrasher. The winner of this
year's School-Level Geo Bee was Tessa Georgeson. Tessa has taken
the placement exam to determine whether she will be invited to
participate in the 2012 State Level Geo Bee later this Spring in
Montpelier.
Congratulations go to Tessa and all of the finalists. Many thanks
to classroom teacher Mark Rampone for once again organizing the
school's participation in the annual National Geographic Geography
Bee, as well as to Principal Nancy Mark, Geo Bee Moderator and
speech pathologist/teacher Laura Aghajanian, timekeeper.
