KILLINGTON-With a repeat performance from last year's Mid-Vermont
Council Race at Suicide Six, the Killington Mountain School J3 Team
swept the girls' podium in last Sunday's slalom race while the boys
took two of the top three spots.
Sunday's race found Piper Jenne, of Bridgewater, taking the gold.
She was by joined on the podium by runner-up Alli Price, of
Rutland, and Marina Rotella, of Rutland, took third. For the boys,
Ian Clarke, of Killington, and Schwartz went one and three.
The J3 team took its first MVC team banner win on Saturday at
Middlebury with Jonny Schwartz owning the top spot. The team
continued to win throughout the weekend, taking another win at
Okemo on Monday in a Super-G race. Alli Price, of Rutland, stood at
the top of the podium, and Bridgewater's Ava Mattsson followed in
third. For the boys team, Clarke and Schwartz responded again,
taking silver and bronze respectively.
The J3 Banner is awarded to the winning team each week, as teams
vie for the J3 Mid-Vermont Council team title at the end of the
year. Rankings from these council races also are used to select
racers for the J3 State Championships at the end of the council
season.
