Many hands needed for 'Greening Up' this Saturday
Dear Editor,
Green Up Vermont Day is Saturday, May 5 this year and the debris
from Tropical Storm Irene is still around as well as the usual
roadside litter. Many hands make the work light and we need many
hands to pick up the litter this year. Please make sure that your
neighborhood has Green Up volunteers.
Greening up can take place any time now as the special bags are
available at the town clerk's office on River Road. There will also
be bags available at the rear of the Killington Road firehouse on
Saturday, May 5 starting at 8:30 a.m., with a bbq for volunteers
starting there at 11:30 a.m. with food donations from the
Killington Resort, Killington Market, Cliff's Deli on Route 4,
Mountain Creamery and the Phat Italian. Bags filled with roadside
litter will be accepted at no charge at the transfer station on
River Road.
Thank you very much,
Deb Burke, the Town of Killington Green Up Vermont chairperson
