ArtisTree Community Arts Center & Purple Crayon in
Woodstock, VT invite art and music lovers from all over the region
to Summer Fest, an annual community event celebrating local art and
music!
The 4th Annual Summer Fest will be held on Saturday July 21st
from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with art and music for the entire family.
This year's Fest is buzzing with face painting, musical
entertainment and "bee friendly" focused art activities. Plus,
there will be a hand-crafted patio planter silent auction with a
portion of the proceeds going to support the Vermont Beekeepers
Association and their efforts protect Vermont's Honeybee
populations.
The main musical attraction this year is Sensible Shoes, one of
Vermont's favorite dance bands, playing a funky mix of original
music and cover tunes inspired by Muscle Shoals, Motown while
blending American songs drawn from blues, soul, folk, country, and
New Orleans R&B. Their ASCAP award-winning songwriting can
be heard in major motion pictures including "Philadelphia" and "The
Manchurian Candidate."
Sensible Shoes will begin at 7 p.m. preceded by local Family
Entertainer and Musician Jon Gailmor from 4:30-6 p.m. Gailmor has
toured with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and has released six
solo albums. "Just Kidding", Gailmor's weekly radio show for kids,
ran for 23 years on two Vermont radio stations.
"Gailmor's ability to wrap his powerful and versatile voice
around the cleverly-written lyrics and tunes he creates has
amazed and delighted audiences for years." Says Vermont resident
Martha Slater. "Along with musical talent and a sharp
intelligence, he has considerable personal
charm, capturing his listeners in the palm of his
hand, and keeping them there throughout a performance."
Rounding out the festivities is face painting with Marti from 4-7
p.m. along with many "bee friendly" focused creative activities for
kids of all ages. Bentley's restaurant in Woodstock will also be
providing backyard BBQ style food and beverage options, which will
be available for purchase.
This event is FREE and open to the public, so bring your friends
and meet up with your neighbors to help celebrate the summer and
"bee friendly"!
