On Sunday, Oct. 27 at 8:50 a.m. Cameron Steinmetz, age 24 from
Rutland, was riding his 2007 Yamaha motorcycle north on Route 30 in
Poultney. He was following behind a farm tractor, which he
attempted to pass near the intersection of VT Route 30 and Saltis
Rd.
The tractor, operated by David Saltis age 27 from Poultney, took
a left hand turn, resulting in Steinmetz colliding into the
tractor.
Poultney fire and rescue responded as well as members from
Castleton PD and FairHaven PD. The motorcycle was removed by
Bruno's and Steinmetz was transfered to Rutland Regional Medical
Center and then airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center
where he was listed in critical condition.
