Dear Editor,
On Sept. 9, the Rutland Area Farm and Food Link (RAFFL) held its
fourth annual Twilight in the Meadow celebration at Wood's Market
Garden in Brandon. The evening, RAFFL's largest fundraising event,
was attended by nearly two hundred supporters who enjoyed live and
silent auctions, entertainment, and a dinner from Village Roots
Catering featuring a bounty of food from our local farms.
RAFFL's board of directors and staff would like to thank all who
attended, in addition to the dozens of community members who helped
make this event a resounding success. Thank you to our host
farmers, Jon and Courtney Satz, who provided us with such a
spectacular site. Thank you to the long list of sponsors who
underwrote the costs, the local farmers who grew our dinner, chef
Kathryn Vanderminden for preparing the delicious meal, auctioneer
Rick Rudd, comedian Rusty DeWees, Cold River Band, and the numerous
local businesses who provided their support and generous donations.
The work of more than forty dedicated volunteers helped make this
night possible as well and we could not thank them enough,
either.
Most importantly, thank you to Marsha Hemm and her host
committee for planning and organizing this wonderful evening. We
truly appreciate everyone's help in supporting our mission of
strengthening Rutland's farm economy and broadening access to
healthy, local foods.
Bob Baird, president, RAFFL Board of Directors, N Chittenden,
Vt.
