The Full Monty, produced by 'Cause Productions for charity
Dear Editor,
It has come to my attention that a misprint in the Mountain
Times has caused confusion and a general stir in the community. I
would like to clear this up. It pertains to the Open Auditions of
The Full Monty production that were listed as being organized by
Rutland Youth Theatre. This is, of course, incorrect as the show is
of mature content. I am the director for the Rutland Youth
Theatre and I also produce fundraising productions under 'Cause
Productions, an organization dedicated to combining business and
the arts to benefit all.
Among the 'Cause Productions shows was the very successful
Vagina Monologues in partnership with the Paramount Theatre that
raised money and awareness to stop violence against women and
girls. We raised over $10,000 to benefit the Rutland County Women's
Network & Shelter with that production alone thanks to
incredible community support. This year I am asking the community
to support The Full Monty that will raise money for the same
organization. The show is a great timely story about
unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo, NY who come up with a bold way
to make some quick cash. In the process they find renewed
self-esteem, the importance of friendship and the ability to have
fun as they face their fears, self-consciousness, feelings of
worthlessness and anxieties (over everything from being overweight
to child custody, bigotry to being gay).
The show is for mature audiences and may not be for everyone.
The important thing is that this production is not in any way
associated with the Rutland Youth Theatre.
