According to Marji Graf, chief executive officer of the Okemo
Valley Chamber of Commerce, Hawk Resort will close its inn,
restaurant and spa operations in the new year.
The resort will continue to rent condominiums and honor their
summer weddings for at least 2013, Graf said in a phone interview
this morning.
Graf said she heard the news this morning too (Dec. 27) and called
the resort's marketing manager to confirm.
A call to that same marketing manager was not returned.
Graf said she could not say if it was a sudden or planned move by
the rural, yet popular resort destination on Route 100 between
Okemo and Killington.
Graf also refrained from speculating on how many locals would lose
their full- or part-time jobs there.
"They are all uncertain," Graf said today.
She said she would know more when she hears from Jim Nielsen,
general manager of Hawk.
