Letter to the Editor: Mark Fiore runs for First Constable

Dear Editor,

My name is Mark Fiore and I am running for the position of First Constable in the town of Killington. Killington voters, I would like to introduce myself to those of you who do not know me and inform you about my background.

I was raised in Killington and have lived here for 24 years. I attended Sherburne Elementary School and graduated Woodstock Union High School in 2006. I started MJF Management, LLC (Fiore Property Services) in 2007 at 19 years of age and have worked hard as sole proprietor to make it a successful and profitable business. I have been a volunteer firefighter for Killington Fire and Rescue since I was 13-years-old and served as a cadet. I am still actively involved as a Level One Firefighter and Emergency Medical Responder. I am Captain for the department and was the youngest member to have achieved this position in the history of the department. From 2002 to 2006 I was a member of the Rutland Area Law Enforcement Cadet Program, an educational experience that confirmed my interest in becoming a Police Officer. Because of my dedication and years of volunteering, I was awarded a commendation from President Bush for Volunteer of the Year while attending Woodstock Union High School.

Prior to attending the Vermont Police Academy I was a dispatcher for the Vermont State Police. My experience as a dispatcher taught me how to handle 911 calls with level headedness and professionalism before dispatching to a police officer.

I attended school for Law Enforcement at the Vermont Police Academy and graduated with a certification as a Law Enforcement officer.

I completed over 200 hours of field training under the supervision of Detective Steve Dechen of the Castleton Police Department.

Currently I am working for the towns of Woodstock and Castleton where I continue to further my law enforcement career.

I hope that you will consider me for the position of First Constable for the town of Killington. I am dedicated, honest and fair. I would be honored to have the opportunity to serve and protect the town in a responsible, professional and ethical manner.

Thank You,
Mark Fiore
