Patty McGrath: On her candidacy for selectwoman

Dear Editor,

I ask the residents of Killington to consider me for the position of selectwoman. I am running again this year because I strongly believe in the town of Killington and it's future, if we focus on the right objectives in the years to come. My family and I have lived in Killington for close to 20 years and have worked here for over 30 years. I know this town has the ability to do great things and want to ensure we move in that positive direction.

We can create a strong economic base, efficient, effective town services and infrastructure with low taxes. We can create a vibrant community with educational, cultural and recreational opportunities. But in order to achieve these goals we need strong leadership.
An effective and efficient leader shows respect for others, inspires and supports good ideas and has the integrity to do what is best for the community, representing residents and businesses. Fiscal responsibility means more than simply cutting costs; it requires balance, advanced planning and identifying ways to get the most value out of each dollars. Leaders must both listen and engage in thoughtful discussion of the issues, and encourage cooperation in order to progress forward and achieve our collective goals.

I can be that leader. Folks I've worked with appreciate that I am reasonable, thoughtful, realistic, pragmatic, positive and very productive. I want to make Killington a better place for all of us to live, work and play, now and for many generations to come.
I ask for your vote on March 5 to support this prosperous vision of our future.

Thank you,
Patty McGrath, Killington
