The Annual Killington Hay Festival is ongoing, with dozens of
handsomely crafted structures made from hay bales and rolls on
display throughout the Town of Killington. This highly successful
fall event is a great photo opportunity that is one of the top
events in Vermont. Do come to Killington, view all the hay
structures, have a great lunch at one of our many fine restaurants,
and make it a full weekend by staying at one of our lovely lodges,
inns, bed and breakfasts, hotels and motels. Killington is indeed
open for business and all roads are open and in great shape!
On Saturday, October 1 Killington's Annual Brewfest will indeed
take place to celebrate the Northeast's finest craft beers and to
celebrate the harvest and beautiful foliage season here. Admission
to the Brewfest to be held at the Snowshed Lodge is $25. There will
be more than 75 craft brews and live music. The Vermont Brewmaster
dinner will be held on Friday, September 30 at the Snowshed Long
Trail Pub starting at 7 pm. The Brewfest Kick Off Party will be
held on Friday September 30 starting at 9 pm at the Wobbly Barn,
with live music from the Pete Kilpatrick Band. Don't miss it!
On Sunday, October 2, 2011 The Concert for the Killington Area
featuring many local musicians "banding together" and organized by
musician Joey Leone will take place at both The Lookout Tavern and
the Outback Pizza starting at noon. This event is to raise money
for local charities that will help homeowners and business owners
who have suffered severe losses due to the recent flooding in our
area.
There will be three stages at The Lookout Tavern and the Outback
Pizza parking lots, adding a festival and block party feel of this
great musical event, showcasing the talents of our gifted local
musicians. This will be a day of amazing music, caring and giving
to those who need our help. The list of performers includes Bow
Thayer, Jamie's Junk Show, The Bobby Darling and Dr. Devine Show,
Tony Lee Thomas Band, Rick Redington and the Luv, Rick and the
Idots, Chad Hollister Band, Joey Leone and his Chop Shop, About
Gladys, The Mark Manley Band, Mark and Deb Bond, Ed McCarron, Chuck
Kelsey, Jimmy Pallutto and Andy Lugo.
A $20 door donation will cover admission to all three stages and a
complimentary buffet, (children ages 12 and under are free). There
also will be a Silent Auction, a raffle, commemorative t-shirts to
help raise funds and both the Lookout and the Outback have pledged
to donate a portion of their sales. All door, raffle and Silent
Auction proceeds will benefit "We are K-Town/Irene's Islands" and
the Pittsfield Hurricane Relief Fund who will assess need and
distribute funds to those who need them most. If you can be there
please bring as many friends as you can and if you can't please
donate to the above charities or any other group helping those in
need.
On Columbus Weekend the world famous DockDogs will be returning to
Killington with their National Championships. This event features a
large outdoor venue, a large pet-friendly vendor area for guests
and participants to view and purchase dog related items. As part of
the DockDog National Championships, more than 300 canine
competitors and their owners will be here to battle for the
National title across three 40 foot long dog diving pools. DockDogs
competitions have been featured on the national television channels
including ABC, ESPN and the Outdoor Channel showing their distance
jumping and retrieving competitions from the world's best dog
athletes. The public is welcome to pre-register for the National
Championships if they have met the required criteria.
