This past Thursday, Jan. 19, Proctor played host to the Rutland Rec
Ninjas and Sharks with each school coming away with a
victory.
First game of the night was the Proctor 5/6th grade girl Phantoms
versus the Rutland Rec girl Ninjas. Proctor seemed to control the
tempo of the game. Proctor's forwards did a great job of rebounding
and getting the outlet pass to their guards who pushed it up the
floor driving to the hoop. Both teams seemed to struggle to make
the easy baskets underneath but in the end Proctor got more to
drop.
The Rutland Rec Ninjas made a comeback attempt in the fourth
quarter but it was to late as the buzzard sounded and Proctor came
away with a 24-12 victory.
The second game of the night saw the Proctor 5/6th grade boy
Phantoms take on the Rutland Rec Sharks. It was a defensive first
quarter with both teams doing a nice job on the boards and using
their quick hands to make a number of steals. The first quartered
ended with both teams scoring 6-points each. The Rutland Rec
starting guards did a nice job of handling the ball and driving the
lane giving them the lead at halftime 14-11.
Rutland took control in the second half expanding their lead when
their guards hit a number of outside shots including many
3-pointers. Proctor couldn't seem to put together a run despite Cal
Owen's great rebounding efforts on both the offense and defensive
boards. Proctor also struggled from the foul line missing most of
their 2-shot opportunities. The final score was Rutland Rec on top
40-20.
