The Proctor Phantoms 5th/6th grade boys basketball team won
their second tournament championship this year with a 38 to 26
victory over Barstow Memorial school during the Bob Ward Memorial.
The Bob Ward Memorial Tournament is hosted at Proctor High School.
Four teams participated this year.
The Phantoms defeated Christ The King school in the first round to
advance to the championship game and Barstow won their first game
against West Rutland.
Proctor and Barstow battled in the first half of the finals; each
taking the lead many times, but neither being able to hold
it.
In the second half, however, Proctor stepped up their defense
causing Barstow to turn the ball over. This gave the Phantoms a
chance to run the floor for fast break opportunities. The Phantoms
also did a better job rebounding, many times allowing Barstow only
one shooting opportunity.
When the fourth quarter buzzard sounded the Phantoms were rewarded
with a hard fought victory over a very talented Barstow team.
Congratulations to both teams for a great game.
