On March18 at approximately 5:15 p.m. the Proctor Fire
Department, along with support from several other area agencies,
responded to a reported brush fire at 41 Patch Street in Proctor,
Vt. Upon arrival they found several small brush fires and also
found the interior of the residence to be on fire as well. They
were able to quickly suppress the fires and preserve the scene. A
request was subsequently made for investigators from the State
Police Fire Investigation Unit. Information at the scene indicated
that persons were reported running away from the scene.
Investigators from the Fire Investigation Unit responded to the
scene. Troopers from the Rutland barracks also responded to the
scene. Investigation at the scene did not locate any immediate
suspects. Investigation of the fire scene showed the fire to the
brush and to the residence were intentionally set. Damage to the
residence was minimal and was estimated to be under $2500. This
property is currently under foreclosure and owned by BAC Inc.
