The William Feick Arts Center at Green Mountain College proudly
announces the first ever student solo exhibitions for the spring
season. The Feick is setting the mark for becoming the region's hub
of creativity and education, providing the students and community
with events and opportunities for innovation and endless learning
experiences.
This semester will feature Cass Neimeth-Lazar, Garecht Brunner and
Leanne Callahan. In addition, the art department gallery in Surdam
Hall will feature the work of seniors Courtney Perry, Tori Mullins,
and Jessica Ferrara.
March 23 at 6 p.m-Painter Cass Neimeth-Lazar will be cutting the
ribbon for her display. When this New York state native was not
throwing strikes for the GMC softball team, she was composing her
Cuerpo exhibit. This senior artist uses her medium to convey the
story of one's spirit and the course it can take. Cuerpo runs
through April 3.
April 12 at 6 p.m. -Senior Jessica Ferrara will show her
multi-media work and give a presentation in the Surdam
Gallery.
April 13 at 6 p.m-Garecht Brunner, ceramicist, also a New York
state native, will exhibit his perception of Dichotomy. In his
work, Brunner uses stark contrasts for both aesthetic appeal and
metaphor.
April 19 at 6 p.m.-Senior Tori Mullins will also give a
presentation of her ceramic work.
April 27 at 5 p.m.-Photographer Courtney Perry opens her exhibit
Ghatanaa Bibaran: Memoir in Surdam Gallery. The installation will
be a visual memoir of a journey she took to Nepal this year. Her
photographs will be complemented with sketches and drawings she
formed while examining her time spent with Nepal's people and
landscapes. Perry's exhibit will run through May 8.
April 27 at 6 p.m.-Leanne Callahan will put on the final touches
for the season, with her oil paintings and ceramic work in an
exhibit entitled Transform. She will exhibit her interpretations of
transformation with experience from her core areas of study at
Green Mountain College: visual anthropology and contemporary
art.
These presentations offer enriching learning opportunities for the
college campus and greater Poultney/lakes region community.
The exhibitions and all events are free and open to the public.
General Feick gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 1-5 p.m., or
by appointment. Surdam gallery is open at all times.
