Negotiations have failed in Rutland Southwest Supervisory Union
between teachers and school board members. Monday marked the fourth
day of a strike leaving five schools in Wells, Ira, Tinmouth,
Poultney and Middletown Springs closed since last Wednesday. The
650 students and 65 teachers will have to make up these days missed
before the school year ends.
The conflict sparked over teacher contracts and working
conditions, including time management and teaching autonomy.
