On April 28, 2012 at approximately 2 p.m. the Castleton Fire
Department responded to a report of a boat on fire at a property
located on VT RT 4A in East Castleton. Upon arrival they found a
boat which had been stored on the property was fully involved. They
were able to suppress the fire and prevent the adjacent boats and
buildings from damage and from catching on fire as well. A request
was made for assistance with the investigation into the origin and
cause of this fire.
Lt Cruise from the Vermont State Police Fire Investigation Unit and
Investigator Baranowski of the Division of Fire Safety responded to
the scene. After an investigation was conducted it has been
determined that this fire was a set fire and is being considered a
criminal incident at this time. The boat, owned by Mike Davidson,
was considered a total loss. The Vermont State Police are asking
anyone with any information to contact the Vermont State Police at

at 1-800-32-ARSON.
