On April 30, at approximately 12:56 p.m., the Proctor Fire
Department responded to 8 Primary Street, Proctor, Vt. for a
reported fire at the residence of Robert J. Elrick, age 49, and
Bonnie K. Elrick, age 44.
Upon their arrival, they found the basement of the dwelling to be
heavily filled with smoke. Later inspection of the basement area,
by fire department personnel, revealed a small fire occurred along
a section of the ceiling. The structure sustained very minimal
damage due to the rapid response of the fire department.
Fire investigators from the Vermont State Police, as well as from
the Division of Fire Safety, were requested shortly thereafter for
an investigation.
The investigation revealed the fire to be suspicious, and anyone
with information regarding the case is encouraged to contact Det.
Sgt. Sutton at (802) 773-9101 or the Vermont Arson Tip Award
Program (VATAP) at 1-800-32-ARSON.
