On the evening of Sept. 12, the Red Cross was called upon to
help in the wake of disaster. Volunteers out of the Rutland area
responded to a Rutland Town home where a family was informed by
local fire officials that they would need to leave their home after
an oil spill in their basement. The Red Cross volunteers
addressed the immediate needs of the displaced family, providing
lodging and financial assistance for food.
