CASTLETON-Two individuals and an outstanding team from Castleton
State College were inducted to the Castleton Athletic Hall of Fame
Sunday, Sept 23. Dozens of supporters, friends and family
celebrated as Geoff Simons ('00, Men's Lacrosse), Mark Garrow ('81,
Alumni Inductee) and the 1997-98 Women's Basketball Team joined the
roster.
Simons is the most prolific goal-scorer in the history of the
Spartan Men's Lacrosse program, tallying 173 career goals during
his four-year career. At Castleton he was a four-time All-Mayflower
Conference player and earned three Most Valuable Player awards.
Garrow is an award winning motorsports broadcaster who has
created nationally syndicated radio shows, co-anchored some of the
most exciting NASCAR race broadcasts, and negotiated one of the
biggest business deals ever for a NASCAR news website.
The 1997-98 women's basketball team worked its way to being
among the top five in the nation in team defense in both NAIA and
NCAA. Nine different players averaged at least 5.3 points per
contest.
