KMS freestyler Dan Rosenblum will represent the United States in a halfpipe competition in Italy, March 24-31

Dan Rosenblum, an 18-year-old freestyle skier on the Killington Mountain School Freeskiing Team, from Stamford, Conn., is one of four men from across the country to be selected to represent the United States in halfpipe competition at the 2013 Freestyle Junior World Championships in Valmalenco, Italy, March 24-31. Rosenblum took sixth (third in his age category) in halfpipe at the U.S. Junior Freestyle National Championships in Park City this month. He won the U.S. Revolution Tour Overall Ski Halfpipe title in 2011.

The Junior World Championships may be held annually as determined by the FIS. These championships provide a unique opportunity for the best junior freestyle/freeskiing skiers in the world to compete together. They are important competitions in the development of future World Cup contenders. World Cup skiers are usually found on the official entry list. Bryan Zemba '10 was the 2011 Freestyle Junior World Champion in dual moguls. He is now a member of the U.S. Ski Team.

"Dan was so fun to coach while I was at KMS," said DJ Montigny, the US Freeskiing National Development Slopestyle Coach and Rookie Team Slopestyle Coach, and a former KMS coach, who will travel to Italy with Rosenblum. "It's been really fun to watch him develop as an athlete and competitor. Dan is a very hard worker, and pushes himself everyday. He has a very good chance to do really well at Junior Worlds. He has some very technical trick combinations, a unique style, and he goes huge in the pipe. He has been climbing the ladder the last few seasons. With hard work, adding a few tricks such as a double or two, Dan could have a great shot a making the US Freeskiing Team in the future."

Rosenblum took first in halfpipe at Eastern Divisional Championships in 2011 and finished seventh in his first appearance at the 2011 Sprint U.S. Nationals. In 2010 he took first in his age category at Junior Olympics and was seventh overall in halfpipe.
Rosenblum began skiing at age three at Windham Mountain in New York. He plays varsity soccer and baseball in addition to his skiing.
