GMC women's soccer strengthened by addition of Nesshoever

POULTNEY - The Green Mountain College women's soccer program is pleased to announce that Otter Valley Union senior forward Lauren Nesshoever (Rutland, Vt.) has deposited with the intention of starting classes at Green Mountain College in the fall.

Nesshoever is taking advantage of Green Mountain's new tuition program available to all Vermont high school graduates.

GMC Head Women's Soccer Coach Seth Benjamin looks forward to Nesshoever beginning her career in the green, white and gold. "Lauren epitomizes the type of person we are looking for in an incoming player. She is a great student in the classroom and the time she has spent developing her fitness level and technical skills is quite apparent. She has the makings of a special career here in the Eagles' soccer program."

Nesshoever scored 17 goals while setting up 10 more as she captained her team in her senior season at Otter Valley Union. This year's achievement helped propel the four-year varsity player to a school-record 42 goals and 24 assists as Lauren led her team in scoring for the third straight season. This fall's inclusion on the Marble Valley All-Star team makes it three years in a row that Nesshoever has earned a spot on the All-Star squad. She has also been named to the All-State team once during her high school career.

Nesshoever has also played club soccer with Nordic SC where she played as a forward. Her exposure to club soccer has instilled a winning mentality as her club emerged as the Nordic Cup champions this past summer in the U18 bracket while also claiming victory in the New England Futbol Club (NEFC) preseason tournament in March. This past fall Nordic SC was a finalist in the Mass. Premier Soccer (MPS) show case tournament over Thanksgiving. During that stretch, the team posted a 10-0-1 record.

Green Mountain graduated four seniors this past fall and looks forward to Lauren's contributions on the pitch as the Eagles continue to build a winning program within the North Atlantic Conference.
