Okemo skiers and riders return from NASTAR Nationals with medals

LUDLOW - Nine racers represented Okemo Mountain Resort at this year's NASTAR National Championships in March. More than 1,000 avid skiers and riders, ranging in age from 3 to 90, converged on Snowmass, CO, to compete for national titles in various divisions during the Nature Valley NASTAR National Championships.

Of the 89 resorts represented, Okemo ranked 19. Representing Okemo were: Ryan Berger, of Syosset, N.Y. who took 16th place in10-11 Platinum Boys; Conor Hawkins, of Farmington, Conn., who placed 19th in 10-11 Platinum Boys; Christine Jenne, of Huntington, N.J., who placed 3rd in Women's 60-64 Platinum; Peter Wepplo, of Princeton, N.J., who took 1st place in Men's 65-69 Gold; Arthur Zagorsky, of Scarsdale, N.Y., who placed 3rd in Men's 40-44 Bronze; Bob Zawacki, of Farmington, Conn., placed 6th in Men's 70-74 Gold; Pat Moore, of Newington, Conn., took 8th place in Men's 65-69 Platinum and 1st place Men's 65-69 snowboarding (his 8th national title in boarding); of special note: Richard Cole, aged 78, of Boston, Mass., took 2nd in Men's 75-79 Bronze and Men's 75-79 Snowboard.
The son of Hopefuls Coach Mike Rosenberg, Joshua Rosenberg, of Ridgewood, N.J., finished in 1st place in a field of 22 racers in the Boy's 6-7 Platinum division.

NASTAR, the world's largest recreational ski and snowboard race program, is owned and operated by Bonnier Mountain Group, publisher of Skiing magazine, SKI magazine and Warren Miller Entertainment.

Since the program's inception four decades ago, more than six million racer days have been recorded by NASTAR. Racers qualify for the National Championships by earning a top-three ranking in their age division at any of the 120-plus Nature Valley NASTAR ski resorts throughout North America.
