Town of Castleton receives workplace safety award

CASTLETON - The Town of Castleton was recently recognized for its strong commitment to workplace safety at the 11thAnnual Vermont Workplace Safety Conference & Governor's Awards. The ceremony, which was held April 12 in Burlington, honored the Town of Castleton's efforts along with other companies who took part in the initiative.

Melanie Coombs and Jill Potter are responsible for coordinating safety and wellness initiatives for Castleton town employees. To be considered for the award, the town was required to submit a written statement on how safety has improved its municipality and how it has worked to make that happen along with its written safety policy. Castleton town employees participate in safe practices on a daily basis and the award pays tribute to their awareness and dedication to safety in the workplace. Governor Shumlin, the Vermont Department of Labor, the Vermont Safety & Health Council and the Vermont Small Business Development Center sponsor the awards.
