Trio of GMC tennis players earn All-Conference Honors

POULTNEY - The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East released its All-Conference selections Friday.  Three Green Mountain tennis players were honored: Freshman Connor Braden highlighted the Eagle contingent with three awards while senior Chris Donovan and freshman Nate Berner-Tobin each received a single award for their play.

Braden and Donovan were each named to the NAC East All-Conference Singles First Team.  Braden went undefeated as a rookie in number one singles play this season, with his only loss coming when he was forced to withdraw from a match due to injury. His play on the hard court was the best single performance for a GMC player since the College joined the conference in 2009.

Donovan posted a 6-3 record in number three singles, matching alumni Christin Louras' mark of six wins for second most in a season. Braden and Donovan join Louras as the only GMC players to be named to the Singles First Team in GMC's short history in the conference.

Braden and his doubles' partner Berner-Tobin were selected to the All-Conference Doubles First Team. The freshmen duo strung together six wins in doubles play to earn the recognition and join Louras and Mark Lundeen as the only GMC doubles teams to earn First Team Doubles status.

Braden capped of a tremendous rookie campaign by being the first Eagle tennis player to be named the NAC East Rookie of the Year. His success in both number one spots in singles and doubles clinched the award.
