Pawlet woman dies en route to hospital after car crash

WELLS — On Saturday, Dec. 12, at 5:04 p.m., the Vermont State Police received a report of a single vehicle crash on Route 30 at Lochlea Lane in the town of Wells, Vt.

Police learned that Megan E. Baker, age 28 of Pawlet, Vt.,  was driving south on Route 30 in the town of Wells when she exited off the travel portion of the roadway, collided with a dirt embankment, and continued to travel south until her vehicle collided with a tree stump. Her vehicle, a 2012 Toyota XD, rolled onto its passenger side, and was found resting against a tree.  Baker was conscious and alert while on scene, but did need to be extricated from the vehicle by members of the Wells Fire Department. Baker was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center. While en-route, Baker became unresponsive, and was pronounced dead upon arrival to RRMC.
