Rutland city approves town, school budgets

Incumbent Rutland Mayor David Allaire won re-election for his two-year seat against Michel Messier 1707-657 Tuesday night.

Messier also lost in a bid for city treasurer 1963-429 to incumbent Mary Markowski.

All of Rutland city’s municipal and school budgets passed as did all the articles.

Voters approved about $10 million in bond payments to address sewage and road problems.

A $7.4 million bond for sewage improvements was approved 1910-548 and a $3 million bond for road improvements was approved 1848-614.

The $21.4 million municipal budget passed 1575-1061 on Tuesday and the $54.4 million school budget passed 1438-1061.

A new Board of Alderman member was also elected. Matthew Reveal defeated Dan White for a one-year Board of Alderman seat 1510-597.

Reveal was elected to fill the remainder of William Notte’s seat after Notte was named state representative following last November’s election.

Incumbnet City Assessor Barry Keefe also defeated Kam Johnston 1834-489.
