Castleton hosts annual scholars celebration

Thursday, April 23 at 12:30 p.m. — CASTLETON — Castleton College is pleased to announce that the third annual Castleton Scholars Celebration: A Showcase of Original Student Work will be held on Thursday, April 23 from 12:30-3:30 p.m. in the 1787 Room of the Campus Center.

The annual celebration gives Castleton the opportunity to showcase the rich variety of students’ scholarly and creative endeavors across academic departments and programs. Each presentation arose from course assignments, capstone experiences, and independent study programs, all supported and guided by faculty mentors.

This year’s event features work from 54 students, representing 15 different programs.  Presentations topics include game-based leaning in a literature classroom, the detection of GMO’s in Vermont cornfields, the four children of Ulysses and Julia Grant in sport and physical activity, and making jurors aware of Rape Myth Acceptance and Belief in a Just World in order to reduce juror’s tendency to blame the victim.

In addition to the presentations, awards will be given to the top presenters, and students will be on hand to speak informally about their work. For more info, email Ingrid.johnston-robledo@castleton.edu.
