Cobras enter 2018 with eyes on improvement

RUTLAND—The Cobra Gymnastics Team is rolling into 2018 with success and excitement for the rest of their competitive season.  In a time when USA Gymnastics is undergoing a hard evaluation, the Cobra girls continue to show their prowess of strength, focus and dedication, all under the healthy coaching models of Shelby Collett and her staff.  Collett’s focus includes a balance of joy and passion for gymnastics with an equal understanding of commitment, goal development and personal growth.

In December, the team showed growth and elegance in two competitions.  Jayla Eugair and Caitlin Giffin, both of the Level 3 team, competed in the first compulsory Sectional in Vermont.  They tied for the first place honor in all-around with a 37.15 with Giffin also went home with a gold medal in bars with a 9.4.

At the highly competitive World Class Invitational in Latham, N.Y., Cobra upheld their Vermont reputation by placing second in the team event for the Xcel Silvers and third for Level 6.  Individual Gold medalists include Harper Wilson, 9.7 Xcel Silver Vault; Jada Hughes, 9.45 Xcel Gold Bars; Sarah Martin, 9.2 Xcel Gold Beam; Karena Kuehl, 9.1 Level 6 Vault; and Lili Zens, 9.6 Level 7 Vault.

Showing dedication and grace, the team proved at the 2018 Royal Regal Invitational that they are a strong force in the state of Vermont.  second place team standings include Level 6 and 7 teams as well as Bronze and Gold Xcel teams.

Individual gold medalist on the Bronze, Silver and Gold Xcel teams include Sophia Cavielleri, 9.4 Vault; Cassie Smith, 9.55 Beam; Sadie White, 9.825 Beam; Ally Cerreta, 9.65 Floor; Elianna Carman, 9.8 Bars; Harper Wilson, 9.7 Beam; Tayah Fuller, 9.125 Vault; and Izabella Adams, 9.75 Bars, 9.475 Beam, 9.525 Floor and 37.45 All Around.

The Junior Olympic Program includes Levels 3, 6 and 7 this season for Cobra.  Gold medalists include Jayla Eugair, 9.4 Floor; Mia Marsh, 9.575 Floor and 36.475 All Around. Nadia Tarbell, 9.150 Beam; Emma Parker, 8.625 Bars; Charlotte Swenor, 9.275 Beam; and Ella Tashjian, 9.625 Vault, 9.65 Beam and 38.025 All Around.
