Painting on the rocks returns

Saturday, Jan. 18 at 5 p.m.—WOODSTOCK—  Billings Farm and Museum’s Artist-in-Residence, Kristina Rodanas, will lead two painting workshops in January at Billings Farm, one on Saturday, Jan. 18 from 5-7 p.m. and one on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 2-4 p.m. Participants at either workshop will receive instructions and materials to complete their own unique artwork, painted on recycled slate roof tiles from the historic Billings Farm barn. Registration is required and space is limited.

Kristina Rodanas is the author and illustrator of more than 25 picture books for children, including “Huck’s Way Home” and “Moooo! A Billings Farm Alphabet.” Her work has been described as “vibrating with color,” “lyrical,” and “dancing with life.” She will guide participants in painting a winter scene while enjoying samples of Billings Farm cheese. As a “sip and paint” style event, participants are encouraged to attend with a friend and are welcome to bring beverages and snacks to enjoy during the event.

Painting on the Rocks takes place during Winter at the Farm, when visitors can meet the Jersey cows and calves, sheep, chickens and draft horses, travel through time in the 1890s Farm Manager’s House, sample woodstove cooking and healthy farm recipes, or craft with the artist-in-residence.

Billings Farm and Museum is located at 69 Old River Road in Woodstock. For more information visit billingsfarm.org.
